Project Description

We are a pack made up of families in our community.  So we understand the financial stresses that come along with raising a family in our area.  That’s why we take each dollar that we receive seriously and take the utmost care in ensuring that we are maximizing the value of each dollar that we receive from our scouting families.  Here are some of the costs that you can expect to incur.  These are costs incurred for a full year of scouting, as opposed to most other youth-oriented activities, which charge by the season.

ANNUAL DUES

To cover the costs of awards and recognition, crafts, and special events we have dues that we charge each year in September.  Dues also include the annual Scouts BSA membership for each scout. We also conduct various fundraisers to offset these costs.  Dues are established by the families in the pack through the pack committee.

UNIFORM

The uniform is a method of delivering the Scouting program.  It shows that you are a member of a team.  Each grade has a specific uniform for their program. Uniforms may be purchased at the Hawthorne scout store or online at ScoutStuff.org.  For more information on uniform requirements, see the Uniform section of our site.

HANDBOOK

Each grade level has a specific handbook they use.  Handbooks are about $17 and are used for the year.  Handbooks have all the required and elective adventures for each rank.  Handbooks also serve as a Scout’s record of completing adventures.

ACTIVITIES

The costs for scouts for most of our activities are included in annual dues.  However, the costs for non-scouts for activities have additional costs associated with them.  These costs differ based on several factors.  Detailed information can be provided under the event details in the events section of this site.
